It's always important to create a checklist of what you have and what you don't have to ensure that on your big days(s), you're not in a position where you've forgotten to bring something essential with you...trust me, forgetting plasters for blisters from wearing heels all day was not it!

Ensure you are checking your list religiously!

This is a list for both brides and grooms, alongside the maid of honour, bridesmaids, and groom men who can ensure the day runs smoothly and as stress-free as possible!

Checklist

  • Location & Catering: Before rushing into the decoration and dresses, build the foundation of your day first, ensuring your catering is booked, (it’s been tested and checked and reviews are good!!), and most importantly, the location of the occasion. You can consider the surroundings of the hall, the building, and the visuals without decorations to build on that image. Also, other elements like seating capacity, parking, the duration and pricing of your stay, types of packaging they offer, and the location all matter!!!

  •

  • Secured Dates: Make sure the timings and dates are all secured before anything, ensure wherever you’ve booked the event, they are reliable and are able to act liable if something was to happen (God Forbid!)

  •

  • Booking: The baker, the hall specialists, the photographer/videographer, the decorators, the driver, catering with food and drink, and the bouquet.

  •

  • Third-Party Input/ Payment Log: Please! Make a list of your third-party contacts like the baker, the hall specialists, the photographer/videographer, and the decorators, and ensure that with this list are each of their emails, and numbers. Another tip is to definitely note down the amount paid and needs to be paid, for your sake and theirs.

  •

  • Playlist(s): Whether you have a DJ booked, or your own sound speaker, Spotify and a phone, make sure you have someone good in control. Music is what makes it perfect, whether it's cultural or religious music! Make sure to pick your entrance songs too!!

  • We have playlists for that! Located on our 'Lifestyle and Advice page.'

  •

  • Themes - clothing and decoration theme: The usual concept for bridesmaids is that they wear the same colour and same dress type, but a classic alternative is also the same colour difference dress type, but that’s all up to you! You want the themes to contrast your own attire, to bring a pop to it, to elevate and compliment it! So, think it through!

  •

  • Transport: If you are hiring a car for the day, ensure that’s done well in advance and plan who will be going with you and leaving with you in that car, so those people can plan how they’re going to get there too if they’re not going in the car with you at that designated time.

  •

  • Clothing, Jewellery & Shoes

  •

  • Make a checklist of things you need to pack the day before such as your little bag which might hold eyelash glue, plasters, mints, perfume, a power bank, charger, slippers, lip gloss and lip liner, tissues, safety pins, bobbin pins, hijab pins, straw, paracetamols, and little chocolates to snack on.

  •

  • The Documents! Ensure they are ready too, both official and if you decide to purchase our decorative aesthetic certificate to hang up in your room as a decorative memory.

  •

  • Make sure you’re checking everyone’s status constantly!
